• Water Inspired //
  • In celebration of water, this blog is dedicated to anything H20-related. That indiscriminately includes photographs and artwork featuring water in all its forms in diverse ways. The images feature herein range from natural views of bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, and streams to man-made architectural wonders such as pools and fountains, right along with portraits of humans and animals alike submerged in or under water. From vast and endless oceans to drops of dew on a rose, water is precious and almost everywhere. And with that in mind, I hope that I can take you to vistas that you've never been before. On a miscellaneous note, there will sometimes be watercolor paintings, and occasionally water in other states, whether it is in solid (ice and snow) or gaseous form.

The Hudson River swells and rises over the banks of the Hoboken, N.J., waterfront as Hurricane Sandy approaches on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012. Hurricane Sandy continued on its path Monday, forcing the shutdown of mass transit, schools and financial markets, sending coastal residents fleeing, and threatening a dangerous mix of high winds and soaking rain. (AP Photo/Charles Sykes) (x)

In northwestern Montana, the water is so transparent in this lake that it seems to be quite shallow.
When in fact, it’s very deep.

Charles Jencks is the American landscape architect and designer behind this incredible flight of stairs. Called The Universe Cascade, it has 25 landings that mark the important shifts in cosmic history. Starting at the top, in the present day, and descending down, visitors are moving through 13 billion years of cosmic evolution. The steps finally disappear into the dark water below, which represents the mystery of the origin of the universe.
